Dr. Laura Brescia, B.Sc., M.Sc., D.D.S.,
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Dr. Laura Brescia has been practicing dentistry in Calgary for over 20 years and is happy to call this city home. She did her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Victoria, completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Western Ontario, and her Masters in Orofacial Pain/Oral Medicine at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Brescia is known for her gentle and caring manner with patients. Many patients who have been nervous about dental work in the past have been surprised to find themselves comfortable and relaxed in her care. As a mother of three, she has an affinity for working with children and their families. Her empathy and calm nature is an asset when providing care for her complex Orofacial Pain and TMD patients.
The numerous hours Dr. Brescia spends on her continuing education allows her to practice dentistry in a comprehensive manner and she believes the best dentistry results in the need for no dental treatment at all. She has a special interest in providing care for patients with complex TMDs, headaches and orofacial pain conditions. Helping her patients with chronic pain conditions find relief and improved quality of life using conservative treatment options has been the most rewarding part of her career.
Dr. Brescia is an avid runner, having competed in numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice. She has now transitioned to ultramarathons and competed in the Lost Soul 100km Ultramarathon and successfully completed the Canadian Death Race. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, skiing, back country camping, and hiking up and down mountains with her family.
